Toshiba Corporation Turns to FalconStor Software for Disaster Recovery Solution; European Headquarters of Leading Global Corporation Chooses IPStor for Consolidation of Resources and Centralized Storage Management

WEYBRIDGE, U.K. -- FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading developer of network storage software solutions, today announced that Toshiba Information Systems UK, a provider of consumer electronics and business communication systems, has chosen FalconStor's IPStor(R) Enterprise Edition software to manage a resilient storage area network and provide for disaster recovery operations. IPStor software will be implemented and integrated by FalconStor partner Redstor.

Toshiba Information Systems' Weybridge data center has 10 servers, running an operating system mixture of Microsoft Windows 2000 and Sun Solaris, and providing file-and-print, Oracle and Lotus Notes applications. The direct attached storage of these 10 servers totaled about 1 terabyte, and the individual management of each server led to an increasing backup and maintenance overhead. IPStor software will address these issues for Toshiba Information Systems through centralized storage management, with the consolidation of all storage resources into an IP SAN, and data replication to a remote site for disaster recovery purposes.

"IPStor will enable us to re-use the resources in which we've already invested, while reducing management costs, providing us with the right platform for disaster recovery and putting us in good shape for future evolution."

Toshiba's implementation will be comprised of a pair of high availability IPStor iSCSI servers, configured for Active-Active failover at the primary site, with a single IPStor appliance at the secondary data center. In Active-Active failover mode, if one IPStor appliance should fail for any reason or the path to it is disrupted, the other immediately and transparently takes over the workload until the primary appliance is back online. There is no disruption to users, and neither processing nor activities-in-progress will be interrupted.
