Business Wire, April 20, 2005

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Life Time Fitness, Inc. (NYSE:LTM), a national operator of large and distinctive health and fitness centers, today announced that Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. has signed on as Presenting Sponsor of the 2005 Life Time Fitness Triathlon.

To be held on Saturday, July 16th, at 8:00 a.m. (CDT) on a stunning urban course through Minneapolis and St. Paul, the 2005 Life Time Fitness Triathlon offers a combined cash and prize purse valued at $500,000 - the largest in the sport. The event also incorporates an innovative timing structure, which allows more than 40 of the world's elite professional female and male triathletes to battle on equal ground for the top prize - a combined cash and prize purse valued at $200,000. In unique fashion within the sport, the 2005 Life Time Fitness Triathlon will be nationally broadcast the same day on NBC Sports at 2:00 p.m. (CDT).

Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. will activate its Presenting Sponsorship by highlighting its capable Toyota 4Runner sport utility vehicle onsite at the Triathlon. Toyota also will have a presence at Life Time Fitness centers and will execute special promotions nationwide.

"I am pleased to welcome Toyota as our 2005 presenting sponsor," said John Reilly, senior director of Corporate Businesses for Life Time Fitness. "Toyota's reputation for international industry leadership, combined with their demonstrated support of active lifestyles through recreation, sports, and fitness sponsorships, make the Company an ideal presenting sponsor of our event."

"The sport of triathlon is experiencing rapid growth, driven by the participation of active-minded individuals - young and old - who likewise represent a fast-growing population of outdoor sports and fitness enthusiasts," said Laura Lee, events and promotions manager, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. "Our partnership with Life Time Fitness extends Toyota's interest in helping people move forward. Competitive events like the Life Time Fitness Triathlon are a great way to do just that."

A 'Battle of the Sexes' in the Making

Based upon past Life Time Fitness Triathlon course results, along with results from a number of international-distance events worldwide, the Life Time Fitness Triathlon's innovative timing structure allows the professional women to start ahead of the professional men by a predetermined amount of time, resulting in an exciting format. For viewers of the same-day national NBC broadcast, this drama will play out via new, onscreen production features, which will bring to life the ever-closing time gap between the genders. This effort is being led by Carr-Hughes, the Life Time Fitness Triathlon television production team and independent producer of sporting and special events for major U.S. television, including the Olympics, World Ski Championships and the development of original sports programming.

2004 Olympic triathlon silver medalist, Loretta Harrop of Australia, was the first-place finisher at the 2004 Life Time Fitness Triathlon. Athens medal winners Susan Williams (USA - Bronze), Hamish Carter (New Zealand - Gold) and Bevan Docherty (New Zealand - Silver) also competed at the 2004 event.

In addition to the professional division, more than 2,500 amateur triathletes from around the world are expected to participate.

The Life Time Fitness Triathlon is a signature event of the Aquatennial, a premier, 66-year old community tradition in the Twin Cities.
