Business Wire, April 25, 2005
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Become.com, a search engine that helps people find product reviews and relevant buying information, today announced that e-commerce veteran Greg Haslam has joined the company as Director of Business Development. Haslam joins Become.com from comparison shopping site NexTag, Inc. At Become.com he will be responsible for developing strategic partnerships and head up the recruitment of retail leaders to participate in Become.com's comparison shopping service scheduled to launch later this year, and will report directly to CEO, Michael Yang.
"Greg is an accomplished manager who brings to our company a deep knowledge of the comparison shopping space, a large network of retail partners and a proven track record of success. We're excited to have him as part of the Become.com management team. He's ideally suited to meet the challenge of launching a world-class merchant network in a short period of time," said Michael Yang, Founder, President and CEO of Become.com.
Haslam joins Become.com from NexTag where he successfully grew and managed the Product Shopping team responsible for thousands of online merchants. Previously he served as Director of Business Development and Marketing at LiquidPrice.com in Cupertino, CA and as an Associate at Asia Pacific Ventures in Menlo Park, CA.
"Become.com's focus on providing the best buyer experience through the integration of research and comparison shopping puts us in prime position to become the clear market leader. We are still in the early stages of online shopping. As more retailers dedicate a larger percentage of ad dollars to their online marketing campaigns, there will be tremendous opportunity for the companies positioned to offer the best return on that investment," said Mr. Haslam. "Michael and Yeogirl have been able to attract exceptional talent to this company and I feel excited to be part of such a great team," added Haslam.
Haslam holds a B.A. in Political Science from Brigham Young University, and received his M.B.A. from the Marriott School of Management. He currently resides in San Mateo, CA, with his wife and two daughters and is a competitive softball player.
