Synergent Taps VSoft for Credit Union Branch Item Capture Solution; Credit Union Processor Saves Members Time and Money with Onsite Check Image and Deposit

Business Wire, April 26, 2005

ATLANTA -- Maine-based credit union services provider and processor Synergent, has implemented VSoft's Branch Item Capture and Check 21 Returns solutions, allowing its current 110 credit union check processing customers the benefit of using image exchange to transport their teller deposits. In 2003, Synergent committed itself to offering its customers a variety of Check 21 compatible imaging and processing solutions. At that time, Synergent selected the VSoft eDesk suite of products, including Branch Item Capture, Research and Archive, and Returns modules. VSoft Corporation is a global information and technology provider of process improvement tools for financial institutions. E[acute accent]As a result of its early experience with VSoft's image capture product, Synergent believed that its credit unions would benefit from remote capture and check image exchange capabilities. Branch Item Capture and Check 21 Returns allow credit unions to lower transportation-related costs, reduce lost item risk, and overcome weather-related stresses, while reducing the amount of time that credit union staff commit to handling deposits. E[acute accent]"Synergent looked to VSoft for Check 21 solutions because we had a positive experience with the original image capture product," said J Hunter King, senior vice president, Synergent. "We believed implementing VSoft's products would bring a competitive advantage to both ourselves and our customers. With the broad geographic distribution of Synergent's 110 credit unions, we have to select solutions that allow us serve all our customers with the same level of service and support." E[acute accent]VSoft's Branch Item Capture allows Synergent to offer their credit unions deposit capture at their offices using a low speed scanner, later sending the files to Synergent electronically for final credit to the credit union. E[acute accent]"VSoft is committed to empowering credit unions to compete more aggressively in their respective marketplaces," said Murthy Veeraghanta, president, VSoft Corporation. "With our eDesk Branch Item Capture and Check 21 solutions operating in tandem, Synergent members are able to participate in and benefit from imaging and exchange capabilities that would have been beyond their means as stand alone financial institutions." E[acute accent]Synergent has currently engaged 40 of its 110 customers in adopting the VSoft Branch Item Capture product and anticipates nearly 100 percent participation in 12 to 18 months.
