Qualstar Ships LTO 3 Fibre Channel Equipped Tape Libraries; Capacities Over 211 Terabytes; Individual FC Connection to Each Drive for Maximum Flexibility and Throughput
Business Wire, April 5, 2005
SIMI VALLEY, Calif. -- Qualstar(R) Corporation (NASDAQ:QBAK), a manufacturer of automated tape storage solutions, today announced that it has begun shipping LTO Ultrium(TM) 3 Fibre Channel tape drives in all models of its widely regarded TLS-8000 Series tape libraries. Qualstar's TLS-8000 Series LTO libraries offer users a particularly broad range of capacity, performance and format options. Qualstar TLS-Series LTO tape library architecture provides direct Fiber Channel connections to each LTO 3 drive to deliver peak performance and increased flexibility for SAN-based data protection applications.
The TLS-8000 Series economically and reliably automates LTO tape-based applications, whether backing up a single critical database or as an integral part of an enterprise-wide data management system. Storage capacities range from 4.4 terabytes (native) to more than 211 terabytes using typical data compression techniques. Six TLS models provide a broad range of cost-effective solutions, housing one to eight LTO 3 FC tape drives and up to 264 tapes. All Qualstar LTO 3 Fibre Channel libraries reflect the company's commitment to building Simply Reliable products that deliver solid technical and business benefits.
All TLS-8000 Series libraries support Q-Link(TM), Qualstar's web browser-based remote library manager that enables users to manage, monitor and configure any unit from across the room using their intranet, or from around the world via the Internet. Q-Link enables administrators to configure the library, monitor operations, control access and receive e-mail alerts using a built-in, policy-based event notification system. Q-Link provides significant savings by allowing companies to deploy enterprise-class storage to locations without on-site administration.
"Qualstar libraries equipped with the latest LTO 3 Fibre Channel drives meet our customers' increasing need for fast, high density, and exceptionally cost-effective data protection," said Bob Covey, Qualstar's vice president of marketing. "The new LTO 3 FC drives in our TLS-8000 Series libraries deliver excellent value for new customers, and provide our large installed base with a comprehensive expansion and upgrade path."
Qualstar automated tape storage products are available exclusively through Qualstar's worldwide network of authorized resellers.
