IDT Joins Advanced Switching Standards Group Board of Directors; Company Solidifies Commitment to Standards-Based Serial Switching
Business Wire, April 5, 2005
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- IDT(TM) (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.)(Nasdaq:IDTI), a leading communications IC company, today announced it has accepted an invitation to serve on the board of the Advanced Switching Interconnect Special Interest Group (ASI SIG). The ASI SIG is chartered with defining, developing and marketing ASI, a standards-based, switched-interconnect and data-fabric architecture based on PCI Express(TM) technology. ASI-based solutions connect system boards and components in future generations of communications, storage, server and embedded platforms. IDT is currently developing Advanced Switching (AS) and PCI Express standards-based products.
"Advanced Switching gained tremendous momentum in 2004, and it is only a matter of time until the architecture is widespread in communications and computing applications," said Mario Montana, director of marketing for the IDT serial-switching division. "IDT is eager to drive the proliferation of this standard by leveraging its technical expertise and strong understanding of the market and plans to provide significant contributions to ASI SIG board activities. We are confident the Advanced Switching architecture will benefit the industry long term, and we remain committed to our investment in standards-based serial switching."
"IDT brings broad switching and systems expertise to the ASI SIG board during a time marked by the impending availability of first silicon based on Advanced Switching," said Rajeev Kumar, president of the ASI SIG. "Since the SIG was formed, IDT has contributed strong leadership to the marketing and technical working groups and now brings that experience to our board of directors to help guide implementation of the standard."
In addition to IDT, the ASI SIG board of directors includes Agere, Huawei, Intel, Siemens, Vitesse and Xilinx. Additional information on the ASI SIG can be found at http://www.asi-sig.org/.
> About IDT Serial-Switching DivisionThe IDT serial-switching division, built in part by the acquisition of ZettaCom and its switch-fabric and traffic-manager solutions, the licensing of technology from Internet Machines Corporation and the synergies with the company's internal experts, is focusing on developing Advanced Switching (AS) and PCI Express standards-based products. The product portfolio consists of solutions that reaffirm the company's commitment to meeting its customers' application requirements with the right standards-based products. The IDT serial-switching division's product portfolio currently consists of a family of switch-fabric and traffic-manager solutions that incorporate standard interfaces, such as SPI-4.2 and CSIX, which lead to higher cost efficiencies for network equipment manufacturers and their customers. In addition, in February 2005, the company introduced its PRECISE(TM) family of PCI Express(TM) solutions, consisting of four bridging and switching products aimed at high-performance server and storage applications.
