BT Deploys Convergys Software to Consolidate Billing Systems For 16 Countries
Business Wire, April 5, 2005
CINCINNATI -- Infinys software drives significant year-on-year cost savings and enables a single view of the customer to enhance the customer experience
Convergys Corporation (NYSE:CVG), a global leader in providing customer care, human resources, and billing services, announced today BT Global Services has deployed Convergys' Infinys(TM) rating and billing software to consolidate a complex multinational billing operation, build convergence, and drive significant cost efficiencies across separate billing systems in 16 countries. This deployment is the result of a contract extension Convergys signed with BT Global Services, the division of BT providing IT and networking services to meet the needs of multi-site organizations globally.
Infinys is enabling BT Global Services to consolidate a highly complex billing operation, consisting of more than 50 billing systems across Europe, North America, and Australia, and a myriad of different tax regimes, regulations, and currencies. In just one year, Convergys and BT Global Services have migrated six legacy systems to Infinys with associated savings of around GBP 6 million (US$12 million). An additional GBP 6 million (US$12 million) savings are forecast for next year because of Infinys, which is supporting a complex range of products including voice, data, ATM, VoIP, and streaming media.
"The scalability and convergent properties of Infinys will help BT Global Services to reach its targets of 100 million events per day by 2007," said Frank Meade, Head of Billing and Collections for BT Global Services. "With the convergent properties of Infinys, we can build one view of the customer to support a more customer-centric business model. Moreover, by migrating numerous billing operations to Infinys, we can realize valuable cost economies of scale with greater flexibility to support our dynamic and complex operation, which comprises numerous business models and geographies. That's why we selected Infinys as our long-term strategic billing platform."
"We are delighted to be supplying these strategic billing services to BT Global Services," said Jean-Herve Jenn, President of Convergys' Information Management Group for EMEA. "Upgrading BT's billing operations with Infinys will enable BT to lower costs and strengthen its position in the marketplace over the long term. BT will also benefit from the ability of Infinys to allow operators to evolve their legacy billing environments to meet the constantly changing requirements of the market."
With its Infinys software, Convergys leads the communications industry in the deployment of real-time convergent billing -- including its Quadruple Play(TM) of video, voice, data, and wireless -- for cable, wireless, satellite, and wireline service providers around the world. Convergys combines its award-winning Infinys software, broad portfolio of professional and consulting services, and deep technical and operational expertise to solve clients' complex BSS and CRM business problems. Convergys is outthinking and outdoing on behalf of its clients every day.
