Business Wire, April 6, 2005
MELVILLE, N.Y. -- FalconStor's IPStor and VirtualTape Library Solutions Validate Robustness and Stability of Linux in Enterprise Environments
FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading developer of network storage software solutions, announced today that the company's feature-rich storage solutions, including IPStor(R) Enterprise Edition and VirtualTape Library, will support Novell's SUSE(R) LINUX Enterprise Server 9.
The advanced features and other enhancements to SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 enable both Novell and FalconStor to deliver an ideal Fibre Channel or IP-based storage solution for storage architectures spanning a wide range of industries including financial services, energy exploration, education, government, legal, manufacturing, healthcare, and telecommunications.
When combined, FalconStor solutions and SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 offer a highly scalable storage environment that simplifies management, lowers total cost of ownership (TCO), enables the deployment of large-scale storage area networks, and delivers highly flexible storage for high-performance computing applications.
"We are pleased that FalconStor is committed to delivering this support for our customers," said Hal Bennett, vice president, Business Development for Novell. "FalconStor storage solutions are a natural fit in SUSE LINUX environments, and combined with SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 offers customers a cost-effective, secure environment designed for maximum performance."
"FalconStor is committed to providing our customers with greater flexibility and a wide array of advanced storage solutions," said John Lallier, FalconStor vice president of technology. "SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 fully complements FalconStor's IPStor and VTL solutions, presenting those customers maintaining high-performance computing environments the opportunity to take advantage of a scalable, yet flexible storage solution."
FalconStor's VirtualTape Library solution enhances the speed and reliability of existing third party backup applications by using disks to emulate industry standard tape libraries, and by transferring data to and restoring it from disk-based virtual tape at ultra high speeds. The VTL solution also maximizes reliability by removing robotic mechanical failures and physical tape media errors.
IPStor software delivers an intelligent SAN infrastructure across heterogeneous environments by providing a comprehensive set of storage services for enterprise applications - simplifying management, ensuring data availability and recoverability, and optimizing I/O performance.
