Business Wire, April 6, 2005
WOODBURY, N.Y. -- As Part of Infinity(R) Sponsorship, Dallas Friday's Boat Is Equipped With Wakeboard Audio System; Infinity to Have Booth Presence at Wakeboarding Events Nationwide
She's known throughout the world of pro wakeboarding for painting the sky with artistic, glitzy, gutsy aerobatics. Thanks to a new deal just announced by Infinity Mobile Systems, teen prodigy Dallas Friday will also be known as a champion of the brand and its Wakeboard Tower Audio System, a unique sound system designed specifically for boats and water sports enthusiasts.
Infinity will sponsor Friday, the top-ranked female in professional wakeboarding and the youngest on the women's Pro Wakeboarding Tour. In addition, Infinity is providing a Wakeboard Tower Audio System for her boat and scheduling her for appearances at Infinity events nationwide. Infinity will also have a presence at numerous professional wakeboard events this season.
"We are thrilled to announce Infinity's partnership with Dallas, an extraordinary athlete who has made quite a name for herself in the wakeboarding arena," said Christopher M. Dragon, director of brand marketing for Infinity. "Dallas' drive and determination, as well as her commitment to the sport, parallel Infinity's passion to provide the ultimate in marine audio. We're honored to have Dallas Friday's name behind our brand."
Friday's trademark tricks and aggressive aerials, inspired by her years as a competitive gymnast, have catapulted her into the national media limelight since she began competing professionally just five years ago. Friday, now 18, first tried the sport at the urging of her brother and was immediately hooked. In her rookie season she captured the prestigious America's Cup title and a silver medal at the 2000 X-Games, where she was the youngest competitor. In the 2003-04 season, Friday won every pro event but one.
The most decorated woman wakeboarder in X Games history, she took her third gold in 2004. In October she won a slice of the biggest wakeboarding purse in history at the Gravity Games H2O in Australia. For her achievements, sports network ESPN awarded Friday the 2004 ESPY for Best Female Action Sports Athlete.
Friday is the first wakeboarder, male or female, to have ever been nominated for an ESPY.
"The Infinity Wakeboard sound system is excellent for wakeboarders or anyone enjoying time on the water in a boat. I'm honored that Infinity thought of me when looking to sponsor a professional wakeboarder," Friday said. "I'm on the lake every day in the summer, and I look forward to enjoying tunes that inspire me, as well as sharing publicly how great the system is. Promoting the Wakeboard Tower Audio System also means more exposure for the sport of wakeboarding. It's a win-win situation for everyone!"
Friday will appear with Infinity to sign autographs and greet crowds at various stops along the Pro Wakeboard Tour route. In turn, Infinity will be on hand with signature show vehicles and car audio systems to support Friday as she competes at these and other national wakeboard events:
--Pro Wakeboard Tour/Orlando, Fla. - April 29-May 1
--Pro Wakeboard Tour/Reno, Nev. - June 3-5
--X-Games/Los Angeles - Aug. 4-7
--Pan American Wakeboarding Championships/Orlando, Fla. - Sept. 23-25
