Datacard Group Introduces Open Platform for Enterprise Security; Security Management Solution Makes Integrating Security Systems and Incorporating New Technologies Easy and Affordable
Business Wire, April 6, 2005
LAS VEGAS -- Datacard Group, the world leader in secure ID and card personalization solutions, today announced the availability of a comprehensive security management solution at the ISC West Conference and Exposition. Offered as part of an exclusive licensing agreement with Intel Corporation, this software solution allows organizations to unite their existing security systems and incorporate new technologies as needed.
"Enterprises with distributed locations and security systems from multiple vendors face difficult and often costly decisions when they want to integrate or upgrade their systems," said Mike Schnaus, vice president of marketing and corporate development for Datacard. "Until now their options were expensive custom development, awkward middleware, or the disruptive replacement of entire systems," he said.
The design of this solution allows organizations to purchase only those features it currently needs and add functionality over time. Current and planned modules include capabilities for access control, identity management, DVR device interface, biometric enrollment and logical security.
Individual sites now have the flexibility to choose the best security equipment from preferred local vendors. In addition, user-defined business rules ensure that alarms and notifications escalate to those who most immediately need the information.
"We were happy to work with Datacard in the development of this solution," said Steve Lund, director of security for Intel Corporation. "This exciting new approach to security technology creates a cost effective way to introduce new technologies while keeping existing infrastructure in place. This modular approach will be extremely useful to security directors everywhere," he said.
Datacard Group offers the world's best-selling secure ID and card personalization solutions. The company's portfolio includes systems for high-volume card issuance, card delivery, secure ID issuance and passport production, plus extensive service and supply offerings.
