OpenService Announces New WinWatch Agentless Technology for Microsoft Security Event Log Management, Correlation and Compliance Reporting
Business Wire, August 1, 2005
WESTBOROUGH, Mass. -- Vendor Further Reduces Industry-Leading Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by Delivering Scalable Remote Microsoft Windows Event Collection to Simplify Security Information Management (SIM) Deployments
OpenService(TM), Inc, a leader in enterprise security management software, today announced new functionality for its Security Management Center (SMC) enterprise SIM suite to simplify event log analysis from Microsoft Windows server platforms. WinWatch is a highly scalable, highly parallel agentless event log collection module for SMC, eliminating the need to place agents on Windows servers required by competing enterprise-scale SIM products. Enterprise customers with large Microsoft Windows server deployments benefit from very fast deployment times and significantly lower costs for security event correlation, threat identification and security compliance reporting applications.
OpenService WinWatch provides scalability to gather data remotely from the most demanding Microsoft Windows server applications, including Microsoft Exchange mail servers, Microsoft Active Directory servers, and Microsoft SQL Server installations. Traditional SIM vendors require that each Microsoft server to have a dedicated agent installed, which is impractical and expensive in an enterprise deployment. Other remote solutions perform poorly, without the ability to effectively monitor large numbers of production systems from a single server.
"Many businesses rely on Microsoft server applications to run their daily operations," said Phil Hollows, vice president of product marketing at OpenService, Inc. "WinWatch makes real-time event management, event log monitoring and security compliance reporting more practical, more scalable and more affordable for enterprise Windows server installations."
WinWatch is a new capability added to SMC 3.5. It enables Security Threat Manager (STM), OpenService's real-time correlation and security event management product, and Security Log Manager (SLM), the company's security log archive and compliance reporting software, to immediately take advantage of the high-performance remote Windows event log collection capability. WinWatch extends OpenService's minimally invasive security management and log consolidation architecture, which also enables remote data collection from log servers, databases and proprietary firewalls.
Pricing and Availability
WinWatch is available immediately as a component of Security Management Center's security event collection architecture at no additional charge to customers with active support and maintenance service contracts.
