Convera's Web Index Exceeds 2 Billion Pages; Company Also Executes Agreement with AT&T for Second Data Center
Business Wire, August 1, 2005
VIENNA, Va. -- Convera Corporation (NASDAQ: CNVR), a leading provider of search and categorization software for enterprises and government agencies, today announced that it's Web Indexing Initiative has now advanced to where the technology presently contains more than 2 billion documents in the index.
As the Company has previously disclosed, this next-generation search technology has been developed to add structure to the Web through the use of proprietary taxonomies and ontologies, semantic analysis and deep knowledge resources capable of providing end-users with more relevant search results. The technology also supports complex queries, offers built in video and image search, and provides geo-locational data. The offering may be used in concert with RetrievalWare, Convera's "flagship" internal search solution, or with an organization's existing internal application to create an integrated portal offering "blended" results from both Intranet and open-source (e.g., the Internet) searches. The Company expects to launch a service offering later this year.
The Company also announced that it has executed an agreement with AT&T to create a second data facility. This effort is expected to be completed by the service launch date and will afford Convera prospects a fully redundant hosting environment.
