JBoss, Inc. Reports Second Quarter Results; Achieves Leadership in Middleware, Expands Ecosystem to Meet Increasing Enterprise Demand

Business Wire, August 15, 2005

ATLANTA -- JBoss(R), Inc., the Professional Open Source company, today announced second quarter results for 2005. Highlights include JBoss' debut as a Leader in Gartner's Enterprise Application Servers Magic Quadrant, a major expansion of its Certified Partner Program, a strategic move into the government sector and new product releases that dramatically simplify enterprise Java. In addition, JBoss continues to grow with the addition of new executives and new offices in Bangalore, London, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

In this quarter, JBoss saw massive expansion of its partner ecosystem. With the launch of the JBoss Certified Partner Program, which includes professional and solution certification for the JBoss Enterprise Middleware System (JEMS(TM)), JBoss has substantially bolstered its partner network. Of strategic significance are new Premier-Level partnerships with Capgemini Nederland B.V., a world leader in consulting, technology and outsourcing services; Nomura Research Institute, Ltd. (NRI), Japan's largest consulting firm and system integrator; NEC, which will be distributing JBoss AS on its hardware and reselling JBoss Support Subscriptions; and Sun Microsystems, which will be supporting JBoss on Solaris 10 for SPARC(R) x86 and x64 systems. In addition, both HP and Unisys, longstanding JBoss partners, now support JBoss on their enterprise-class servers.

"Once again, JBoss exceeded our growth goals as we focus on building out the JBoss ecosystem to support enterprise customer demand," said Marc Fleury, chairman and CEO of JBoss, Inc. "JBoss' traction in vertical and worldwide geographic markets is proving that Professional Open Source can deliver great technology at a lower price point to enterprises with the vision to deploy open source software. JBoss remains focused on serving our customers, providing partners with the tools and know-how to succeed alongside JBoss and building out JEMS into a complete super-platform."

One of the company's key expansions this quarter was the formation of the JBoss Government Group. JEMS software is already widely used in government agencies, both in the U.S. and abroad, and at the federal, state and local levels. By making a long-term commitment to the government sector, JBoss will make it even easier for public sector organizations to avoid proprietary software lock-in, achieve interoperability and save scarce taxpayer dollars through the open source JEMS platform.

Expanding JBoss Ecosystem

This quarter, JBoss signed a record number of Professional Subscription Support service customers. New and renewing customers include AmeriPath, Big Y Foods, CORGROUP LLC, Creditex, EZTrip, Health Market Science, Information Data Management, Palm Harbor Homes, Qpass, RBC Life Insurance Company, Skandia UK Group, Sporg Inc., State of Massachusetts, Steria, The Motorists Insurance Group, Universal Music Group, USFI, USSTRATCOM, Westring Technology, Workscape and Xdrive. New and expanded partnerships include Applied Engineering Management Corporation, DataSynapse, MIRO Technologies, ObjectOne, Redpill AB and T-Systems.

By popular demand from customers and partners, JBoss is pleased to present JBoss World Barcelona, October 10-12, 2005, its first European user conference and exhibition. Registration for the event is now open. For more information, please visit www.jboss.com/events/jbossworld.
