Business Wire, August 2, 2005

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The BTM Institute's Global Leadership Council today announced further expansion of its membership and has gathered some of the world's most renowned leaders and luminaries. The BTM Institute today also announced its newly amended name, The Michael Nobel Harriet Fulbright Institute of Business Technology Management.

The BTM Institute was founded in 2003, as the first international nonprofit organization of its kind that brings together industry and academic experts dedicated to providing global companies with a business paradigm shift to better manage technology's contribution to the corporate value chain. The BTM Institute brings together a select group from the academic, corporate, government and thought leadership communities that specialize in Business Technology Management (BTM) as a think tank to address the long-standing need for more effective strategic management of technology's contribution on an international scale. The Institute is chaired by Faisal Hoque - Founder of the BTM Institute and Chairman of Enamics, Inc., Dr. Michael Nobel - the great grand nephew of Dr. Alfred Nobel and Chairman of the Nobel Family Society and Ms. Harriet Mayor Fulbright - wife of the late Senator J. William Fulbright and Chairperson of the Fulbright Center.

The BTM Institute is comprised of the BTM Global Research Council and the BTM Global Leadership Council that includes charter academic members from Harvard, MIT, and London Business School and corporations such as PepsiCo Inc. and Marriott International. The initial outputs of the BTM Global Research Council, working together with the BTM Global Leadership Council, include a series of Management Papers for each of the BTM Capabilities and its first major book, Winning the Three Legged Race, When Business and Technology Run Together (Financial Times/Prentice Hall, Fall 2005).

"The BTM Global Leadership Council is making an important intellectual and practical contribution in the most dramatic business trend in current history - Business Technology Management - as we attempt to enact visions for a sustainable future. Our new members stand at the forefront of their professions in innovation and creativity," said Mark Minevich, Executive Director, BTM Global Leadership Council and Chief Strategy Officer, Enamics, Inc. "The BTM Global Leadership Council's important and timely brain trust of knowledge serves as a catalyst for discovering and identifying the next wave of winning management practices." Mr. Minevich is an internationally known thought-leader, management expert, and author of the CTO Handbook, The Indispensable Technology Leadership Resource and co-author of the forthcoming, Global Outsourcing Report (Palgrave MacMillian, Nov. 2005).

The new members of the BTM Global Leadership Council include: Dr. Jagdish Bhagwati - Senior Fellow, International Economics and Foreign Relations; Dennis Callahan - CIO, Guardian Insurance; Michael Gabriel - CIO, HBO; Tsvi Gal - CIO, Warner Music Group; Dr. Hubertus Hoffmann - Founder, World Security Network, Former advisor, the European Parliament, the German Bundestag, and the U.S. Senate; Jean Holley - EVP and CIO, Tellabs; Irwin Katsof - Founder, Global Capital Associates (GCA), and Global Strategic Ventures; Ted Kowalski - Vice President, IT Development, Barnes&Noble.com; Michel S. Laguerre - Director, Berkeley Center for Globalization and Information Technology at the University of California; Dr. David Lee - Vice Chairman, World Trade Centers Association (WTCA), CEO, World Trade Center Development; Dr. Joseph Okpaku - President and CEO, The Telecom Africa Corporation; Dr. Frank-Jurgen Richter - President, Horasis, Former Director, World Economic Forum; DATO Dr. Jannie Tay - Vice Chairman, The Hour Glass, one of the 50 Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World; Randy Terbush - CTO, ADP; Bruno Alvin - Sr. Leadership and E-Government Advisor, World Bank; among others.

"The BTM Global Research Council is dedicated to the ongoing discovery and dissemination of meaningful analysis and a body of knowledge that can be put to real world use. The real-world experience that the BTM Global Leadership Council brings to the table is unmatched in the industry," said Michael Fillios, Executive Director, BTM Global Research Council and Chief Product Officer, Enamics Inc.

The BTM standard put forth by the BTM Institute provides a structured approach to decision-making that allows enterprises to align, synchronize and even converge IT and business management, thus ensuring better execution, risk control and profitability. "Without a distinct, comprehensive management science by which enterprises can manage technology in lockstep with the business, value and competitive advantage will remain hostage to market and institutional wanderings," said Carl Wilson, Co-Chair, BTM Global Leadership Council and EVP and Chief Information Officer - Marriott International. "The principal conceptualization of the BTM standard has significantly benefited from the practical experiences of BTM Global Leadership Council and its vastly diversified group of global business and technology members."
