Prosoft Announces Addition of Arizona as CIW Statewide Partner; Industry-Recognized Certification to be Integrated into Public Secondary School Curricula
Business Wire, August 22, 2005
PHOENIX -- Prosoft Learning Corp. (Nasdaq: POSO), a technology learning solutions provider and the owner of the CIW certification program, announced today that Arizona will introduce CIW into Web-technology courses in its public secondary schools. Arizona is the ninth state to implement CIW in its classrooms. Under the terms of its agreement with the Arizona Department of Education, Prosoft will partner with the state to support teachers and schools in implementing the CIW curriculum into secondary classrooms.
Pilot schools, which will begin incorporating CIW in the 2005-2006 school year, will receive Official CIW Curriculum; assessment tools; and membership in the CIW Certified Testing Center program, which enables in-class delivery of CIW certification exams.
As the pilot program progresses, Prosoft will work with the state and participating schools to develop articulation agreements with post-secondary schools throughout the state, enabling students to earn college credits for taking and passing CIW classes and exams while in high school.
This partnership also helps the state meet the 2007-2008 legislative mandate that all career and technical education courses use certified assessments and industry-recognized certifications.
Benjamin Fink, president and CEO of Prosoft, is pleased that the partnership developed so smoothly, especially in the state in which Prosoft is headquartered. "We are honored and privileged to have Arizona on board with CIW," Fink said. "Arizona has always maintained a very forward-thinking approach to fostering its students' future educational and career pursuits, and adopting CIW is one of many steps the state is taking. We are delighted that students in our home state will be given the opportunity to graduate from high school with both a diploma and a CIW certification, which will assist their efforts in seeking employment."
The award-winning CIW certification program helps individuals prepare for the highly competitive digital economy by teaching the essential Internet-technology and workplace skills required by today's employers. CIW is the world's largest industry-recognized job-readiness certification, validating skills in a variety of IT disciplines including Web site and e-commerce development, network administration, security, and Web languages.
