IDT Announces Availability of System Development Kit for PCI Express Switching Solution; Evaluation Board to Serve as Demonstration Vehicle for PCI Express Solution at Forthcoming Intel Developer Forum
Business Wire, August 22, 2005
SAN FRANCISCO -- IDT(TM) (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.) (NASDAQ:IDTI) today announced the availability of a complete hardware/software development kit for the company's currently sampling 3-port, 24-lane PRECISE(TM) PCI Express(R) switching solution. The development kit, which includes a hardware evaluation board, will be used to demonstrate the functionality and performance of the switching solution at the Intel Developer Forum (IDT Booth #919) being held at Moscone Center West in San Francisco from August 23-25, 2005. Also included in the kit are software drivers and the IDT developed PCI Browser, a graphical user interface (GUI)-based configuration and management tool that allows designers to optimize their system set-up for reduced debug time and overall faster time to market.

"IDT's long history of software and system expertise has proven invaluable as we strive to deliver development tools that allow designers to meet their performance goals in the shortest time possible," said Alex Goldhammer, product manager for the IDT serial-switching division. "Our new development kit enables designers to experience the full bandwidth of our switching solution to evaluate performance and create models of their end system within a chosen environment."
The new hardware evaluation board has been customized for product demonstrations, software development and initial system-performance benchmarking. The board includes a x8 upstream connector that allows the add-in card to be plugged into a standard PCI Express expansion slot on the designer's motherboard of choice. In addition, the board includes two PCI Express expansion slots to enable interfacing with off-the-shelf components for robust system emulation.
IDT PRECISE PCI Express Bridging and Switching Solutions
Aimed at high-performance server and storage applications, the cost-effective IDT PRECISE family of PCI Express bridging and switching solutions has been designed to lower the overall cost of Gigabit switching. The IDT 3-port, 24-lane PCI Express switching solution provides I/O expansion to augment "north bridge" devices with additional high-performance I/O connectivity.

About IDT Serial-Switching Division
The IDT serial-switching division, built in part by the acquisition of ZettaCom and its switch-fabric and traffic-manager solutions, the licensing of technology from Internet Machines Corporation, and the synergies with the company's internal experts, is focusing on developing Advanced Switching Interconnect (ASI) and PCI Express standards-based products. The product portfolio consists of solutions that reaffirm the company's commitment to meeting its customers' applications requirements with the right standards-based products. In addition to the recently announced family of PCI Express bridging and switching solutions, the IDT serial-switching division's product portfolio consists of a family of switch-fabric and traffic-manager solutions that incorporate standard interfaces such as SPI-4.2 and CSIX, which lead to higher cost efficiencies for network equipment manufacturers and their customers. The high integration of these switch fabric and traffic managers allows for dramatically increased port densities and reduced power requirements, providing key operational benefits to service providers.
