ClearSpeed Demonstrates Acceleration of Intel® Math Kernel Library with the CSX600 Advance™ Board; Acceleration to Increase Productivity in the Engineering, Financial and Scientific Industries

SAN FRANCISCO -- ClearSpeed Technology (LSE:CSD), a developer of high-performance, low-power, programmable co-processor solutions, is demonstrating the company's dual co-processor CSX600 Advance(TM) board at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF). ClearSpeed and Intel will give a joint technical presentation to showcase how ClearSpeed's CSX600 Advance board can further enhance applications that are using the Intel(R) Math Kernel Library (Intel MKL) to maximize their performance on Intel processors.

The Intel MKL is a set of thread-safe, mathematical functions for engineering, financial and scientific applications requiring high performance on Intel platforms. Intel MKL BLAS functions such as DGEMM are already utilized by a large number of popular commercial applications. These applications, such as Wolfram's Mathematica, can now automatically use the CSX600 Advance board's off-load capability without requiring source code changes, and hence gain additional acceleration with limited additional power consumption from the CSX600 Advance dual-chip board's 50 Gigaflops (GFLOPS) sustained performance at about 25 Watts.

ClearSpeed's exhibition in Intel's PCI Express Technology Community signifies the company's commitment to ensuring the industry standard interconnect is on the company's product roadmap.

ClearSpeed will be presenting at IDF on Tuesday, August 23, from 9:30 a.m.-10:20 a.m. Simon McIntosh-Smith and Ron Langhi from ClearSpeed will be presenting with Todd Rosenquist from the Intel MKL team on using ClearSpeed technology to accelerate the Intel MKL. ClearSpeed will be exhibiting in booth #901 in the PCI Express Technology Community August 23 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., August 24 from 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., and August 25 from 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. in the technology showcase.
Product availability and support
Details on product availability of the ClearSpeed CSX600 and support will be released in Q4 of 2005. The company will shortly release sample silicon and boards to OEMs, ISVs and other partners.

About the CSX600 co-processor
The CSX600 is a 64-bit co-processor that has 96 processing elements and runs at 25 GFLOPS (DGEMM) sustained double precision floating point performance at about 10 Watts. The processor can be applied to high-performance computing applications where large volumes of data can be processed in parallel. The CSX600 can be used as a high-performance co-processor in a workstation or server or as a standalone embedded processor.

The CSX600 Advance(TM) PCI-X board contains two CSX600 co-processors and sustains 50 GFLOPS double precision floating point performance at about 25 Watts. The board and/or multiple boards can be used in workstations, servers or clusters where there are PCI-X slots.
