SALT LAKE CITY -- Educational software product teaches kids to read using Fonix speech recognition
Fonix Speech, an operating division of Fonix(R) Corp. (OTCBB: FNIX), announces the retail availability of JumpStart Reading with Karaoke(TM) from Knowledge Adventure(R), one of the largest educational software developers in the world. JumpStart Reading with Karaoke(TM) integrates the Fonix VoiceIn(TM) speech interface in a unique and fun learning product for children ages 4-7. As part of the agreement, Fonix receives a software license fee from Knowledge Adventure.
"JumpStart Reading with Karaoke is the first game in Knowledge Adventure's new Voice Activated Learning (TM) series," said Leslie House, senior vice president of product development, Knowledge Adventure. "Knowledge Adventure has created Val (short for Voice Activated Learning), a lovable cat that encourages children to read out loud and provides feedback on each sound and word they say. Children interact directly with the product for a unique and effective learning experience. Fonix speech
recognition, which can identify children's voices, is especially relevant to our innovative teaching tools."
"Knowledge Adventure has done a terrific job of utilizing an innovative technology like speech recognition to make learning fun for children," said Tim K. Hong, Fonix VP of games. "Fonix speech recognition has been optimized for children's voices, increasing the accuracy and enjoyment of the game experience for kids. We're excited to see our work and partnership with Knowledge Adventure result in what is sure to be a successful educational game series."
