Q1 Labs to Participate at the 2005 DHS Security Conference and Work Shop: Security Training for the Enterprise; CTO Sandy Bird to Present on the Threat Instant Messenger Poses to the Network

WALTHAM,Mass. -- Q1 Labs, (www.q1labs.com), a leading network security management company, today announced that Sandy Bird, Q1 Labs co-founder and CTO will be presenting at the 2005 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Conference and Workshop: Security Training for the Enterprise. The Conference and workshop is in Baltimore, Maryland on August 22-26, 2005. On August 25 and 26, Bird will present on the threat instant messenger (IM) poses to the network.

The past year has given rise to several high-impact worms and viruses that shared three common transmission media: e-mail, scanning or file sharing. IM communications are highly vulnerable and have become the next propagation method of viruses. IM has become part of daily communications, and needs to be monitored with the same care as other entrances to the network.
