Amino will Port Advanced Software Stack For IPTV Set-Top Boxes on Philips' Semiconductors Reference Design
Business Wire, August 26, 2005
CAMBRIDGE, England -- Amino today announced that its advanced software stack for IPTV set-top boxes will be combined with Philips NexperiaTM home entertainment engine PNX8550 to be ported to the STB810 semiconductors reference and development platform for set top boxes. The integration of Amino's software will create a ready to use set-top box blueprint for manufacturers, ideal for the rapidly growing IPTV market. The combined platform will allow set-top box manufacturers to bypass much of the software research and development and enable them to launch reliable, high-performance products in a minimum period of time.
Amino's software enables the creation of a comprehensive and highly flexible IP set-top box platform, capable of supporting a wide range of IPTV middleware and conditional access solutions - ensuring that set-top box manufacturers can focus on their core strengths of product design and value engineering, and can address the widest array of market requirements. The open software platform also allows third-party application software to be ported to add new features for IPTV service providers.
Although known for its successful IPTV set-top box designs, this agreement cements Amino's position as an IPTV technology provider. Karthik Ranjan, Vice President of Marketing for Amino explained "We developed our set-top box products to prove the value of our software and to enable the take-off of the IPTV market. By working with Philips' semiconductors division, we can jointly enable set-top box vendors, and further drive down costs for IPTV operators".
Menno Kleingeld, Marketing Director STB & home media devices, Philips Semiconductors commented "Porting Amino's software stack for IPTV set-top boxes on our STB810 semiconductors reference and development platform will enable STB makers to launch reliable, high-performance products in a minimum period of time. "
Amino's technology will be demonstrated at IBC2005, Amsterdam, from 9 to 13 September, stand #4.299. Philips will be showing their platform at the IFA show in Berlin in August.
