Business Wire, August 29, 2005
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Washington Mutual, Inc. (NYSE:WM) today announced that it has named first vice president Andy Robinson to be campus operations officer for its new San Antonio regional operations center. In addition, Robinson will lead the company's Consumer Loan Production Center (CLPC) that will be based at the new center, serving a dual role. Effective immediately, Robinson will be responsible for coordinating the site management council which will oversee activities such as community relations, key human resources issues, campus support services, internal campus communications, and will coordinate facilities management activities. As CLPC Site Manager, Robinson will implement the operational and financial strategy for the CLPC team in addition to the ongoing customer service and operations of that group.
In June of this year, Washington Mutual announced its selection of San Antonio as the location of its new regional operations center and the purchase of the former MCI San Antonio campus located at 20855 Stone Oak. In one of the largest job creation announcements in the United States so far this year, Washington Mutual committed to bringing as many as 4,200 jobs to Texas over the next seven years with up to 3,000 of those jobs based in San Antonio.
Robinson previously served as senior vice president of MBNA America Bank where he spent 12 years in management positions for collections, customer service and credit risk. He brings to Washington Mutual a wealth of experience in operations, communications, servicing, hiring and training.
"Andy Robinson has a proven track record in leading and managing start-up operations and we are thrilled to have him on the ground as we begin building our employee presence at the regional operations center and preparing for continued growth in San Antonio," said Benson Porter, chief administrative officer for Washington Mutual.
Robinson, a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College in Cleveland, Ohio, recently relocated to San Antonio and is eager to begin involvement with the local business and civic communities.
