Synergy Research Reports 3Com Experienced Industry's Highest Growth in Enterprise Voice over IP Sales in Q2 2005; Synergy's Research Shows Gains in Enterprise and SMB Markets Drove 28 Percent Sequential Growth
Business Wire, August 29, 2005
MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- According to a recently released report from Synergy Research Group, the analyst firm's findings indicate that 3Com Corporation experienced the highest revenue growth in Enterprise Voice over IP (VoIP) sales in calendar Q2 2005. The report entitled, "Q2 2005 Enterprise VoIP Market Shares," also highlights that 3Com demonstrated strong growth of 36 percent in worldwide enterprise voice ports, with gains in enterprise and small and medium business (SMB) markets.
"3Com continues to demonstrate momentum in the enterprise and SMB market segments and across key vertical markets, highlighting the demand for their proven IP telephony solutions," said Jeremy Duke, president and CEO, Synergy Research Group. "3Com's broad portfolio of platforms and applications delivers the rich functionality and quality of service businesses demand to make the leap to a converged network. They are poised to make a lot of noise in the market."
According to the report, 3Com is well-positioned to serve the large enterprise market with its 3Com(R) VCX(TM) platform. Synergy states that if 3Com can leverage its competitive advantages found with the 3Com NBX(R) platform and execute on a strong distribution strategy, the company will be able to drive significant attention in the enterprise. Synergy also attributes 3Com's strong growth to continuing to provide cost-efficient and "easy to use" voice solutions to the sub-100 line market, as well as market leadership in specific business segments such as education.
"This is yet another validation point for 3Com's commitment to delivering solutions that enhance secure, converged communications," said Jim Freeze, global vice president of marketing for 3Com. "Customers of all sizes are recognizing that 3Com's open standards-based voice solutions out-deliver the competition in terms of business value and return on investment."
3Com has been a major contributor to the convergence industry since the introduction in 1998 of the world's first IP-PBX, the 3Com NBX system. The company developed an architecture for a distributed softswitch for AT&T and brought the first commercially deployed carrier softswitch to market in 1999. The 3Com VCX IP telephony platform was first introduced in 2003 for large enterprises.
Today, the company offers the 3Com Convergence Applications Suite, a set of real-time communication applications running on common Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-standard based IP communications platform. The suite, in whole or in parts, enables higher availability and central management for real-time business applications including telephony, messaging, conferencing, mobility, telecommuting and contact center services. With the 3Com Convergence Applications Suite, enterprise customers can lower communications costs, make employees more productive and strengthen customer interactions.
