OMG Announces Program for Architecture-Driven Modernization Workshop - October 24-27, 2005, Alexandria, VA -

NEEDHAM, Mass. -- The Object Management Group(TM) (OMG(TM)), today announced the program for its Second-Annual Architecture-Driven Modernization workshop. Existing software assets have entered the maintenance and evolution mode. Architecture-Driven Modernization (ADM) is the process of understanding and evolving existing software assets for the purpose of software improvement; modifications; interoperability; re-factoring; restructuring; reuse; porting; migration; translation into another language; and enterprise application integration. Modernization starts where existing practices fail to deliver against business objectives. A model-driven approach to modernization, leveraging existing Object Management Group (OMG) modeling standards and its Model Driven Architecture(R) (MDA(R)) initiative, promotes revitalization of existing applications and systems, making them more agile and extending their useful life.

Hosted by the OMG and its ADM Platform Task Force, this workshop will explore concepts related to the understanding, improvement, redesign, migration and redeployment of existing software assets. Practitioners with relevant experience are invited to share their experiences with each other and their vendor community. The Workshop is open to all with an interest in, and understanding of the ways in which to improve and extend the life of valuable software assets. Workshop participants will include implementers (architects, modelers, developers, systems integrators), large end-user organizations, technology providers, and representatives of standards bodies.
