Netopia Introduces New Timbuktu® Pro Management Server; Centralized Management Console Eases Deployment and Configuration of Timbuktu Pro
Business Wire, August 31, 2005
EMERYVILLE, Calif. -- Netopia, Inc. (Pink Sheets:NTPA), a market leader in broadband gateways and service delivery software, today announced the availability of the Timbuktu Pro Management Server. This new platform augments Timbuktu Pro's screen sharing, remote control, file transfer and integrated chat functionality by providing IT managers and administrators a more efficient, centralized approach to remotely managing their Windows PCs and distributing software applications.
From small business to enterprise networks alike, the Timbuktu Pro Management Server can be used to manage and perform the installation of Timbuktu Pro for Windows as well as other third party applications, updates, patches and bug fixes; relieving administrators of the need to visit and install software onto each end users computer.
The Timbuktu Pro Management Server combines a Microsoft(TM) Management Console (MMC), remote installation module and centralized server which;
--enables push installation of Timbuktu Pro for Windows version 8.5 and other Microsoft Windows Installer compliant applications across the network;
--provides software installation on and upgrades to remote Windows PCs without any end user interaction;
--utilizes Microsoft Windows Installer to facilitate fast patch and bug fix distribution to close security loop holes for any software application;
--centralizes Timbuktu Pro administration and configuration;
--acts as a repository for Timbuktu Pro log and usage information.
"Listening to feedback from our enterprise customers and closely analyzing the direction of the remote control market has enabled us to clearly understand what network administrators need to make their jobs easier and more efficient," said Jeff Porter, vice president of product marketing at Netopia. "The new features we've integrated into version 8.5 leverage our years of expertise in streamlining remote support."
Timbuktu Pro Management Server is now available from Netopia's online software store at www.netopia.com or through local resellers.
