Extensis Awarded Patent for Digital Asset Management Technology; Innovative Floating 'Express Palette' Technology Provides Instant Access to Digital Files
Business Wire, August 31, 2005
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Extensis, a division of Celartem, Inc., today announced that it has been awarded a patent for its popular Express Palette feature within Portfolio, its leading digital asset management solution. The Express Palette is a floating application that brings the digital library of files within Portfolio directly into the user's existing workflow, providing instant search and drag-n-drop access to files from anywhere on the user's system.
"Extensis developed the Express Palette by listening to our customers and supporting their desire for an asset management system to complement their existing workflow," said Carlos Domingo, CEO of Celartem, Inc. "Through our customer research, we developed the Express Palette -- eliminating the need for users to open yet another application in order to access vital files and images. In short, it enables users to get the right file at the right time with very little effort."
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted the patent, entitled System for using a floating palette for a digital asset management system in a plurality of different applications to Extensis for its unique technology advancements in digital asset management. Extensis cultivates an environment that is committed to breakthrough technology and currently owns several patents and has additional patent applications pending in the United States. Earlier this year, Extensis was awarded a patent for identifying corrupt font files as part of a font management solution.
"We understand how vital it is for our customers to have transparent access to their files," said Domingo. "The Express Palette allows access to files stored anywhere on the network through seamless integration with the creative professional's workspace -- whether that be Adobe's Creative Suite, QuarkXPress or other applications. Portfolio is flexible enough to adapt to the working style of its users and not force them into a rigid predefined workflow."
