Silverback Systems Develops iSCSI Storage Stack for Intel-Based Systems; Member of Intel's Storage Community
Business Wire, August 31, 2005
CAMPBELL, Calif. -- Silverback Systems today announced it will deliver a comprehensive iSCSI hardware/software stack to provide IP storage OEMs with flexibility for developing Intel(R) XScale(R) technology-based products. By delivering a unified iSCSI target stack, customers can readily address a broad range of market segments with a flexible solution to tackle the various price/performance requirements. A single iSCSI stack makes systems integration, upgrades/updates, qualification and maintenance much simpler, faster and easier to manage.
Previously, iSCSI target designs were either hardware centric or software only, limiting the OEM's ability to leverage designs across platforms or forcing them to compromise on performance. The Silverback Systems' iSCSI target stack is designed to run on iSCSI target reference platforms based on Intel XScale technology. The Intel reference platforms are complete and comprehensive iSCSI target hardware designs compatible with Silverback Systems' i SNAP(R)2110.
The i SNAP(TM)2110 is a dual-port, gigabit Ethernet, storage network acceleration processor which offers full iSCSI offload capability including the compute intensive CRC calculation.
"Using this uniquely blended and integrated hardware and software platform, IP storage product developers will be able to develop multiple products with a variety of options targeting a range of price points and applications," said Ron Kroesen, VP of marketing and sales, Silverback Systems.
"By offering a unified iSCSI target stack, Silverback Systems is able to take advantage of the cost and performance benefits of Intel XScale technology to provide OEMs a broad array of options for developing industry leading iSCSI SAN solutions," said Seth Bobroff, director of marketing, Intel Storage Components Division.
