> The purpose of the Operational Business Intelligence Applications research study, sponsored by Siebel Systems, was to understand the trends, needs and practices of organizations using vendor-developed BI applications. The study captured responses from line-of-business and IT professionals and was conducted through partnership with CMP United Business Media and Intelligent Enterprise; Source Media's BI Review, DM Review and datawarehouse.com; Montgomery Research; and BusinessIntelligence.com. Ventana Research will reveal interesting key insights and best practices learned from the Operational BI Applications research study, including:--62 percent of the respondents found the operational BI applications to be very valuable or extremely valuable.
--3 times as many respondents (45%) said they would be buying more vendor-provided BI applications than said they would not (15%).
--39 percent of the respondents stated that these applications improved IT's ability to serve user needs.
"Anecdotal evidence indicated that vendor-developed BI applications were few and far in between, but this study shows that they are commonplace and growing in popularity," said Eric Rogge, Ventana Research VP and Research Director, BI and IT Research. "The data indicated many reasons as to why this is the case. We think these insights will help organizations with vendor-developed BI application selection and acquisition."
