PostX Enhances Content Filtering with Bitform Extract SDK; Bitform solution provides robust inspection of Microsoft Office files sent as email attachments
Business Wire, Dec 13, 2005
CHICAGO -- Bitform Technology Inc. today announced that PostX, the top-rated email encryption solution has licensed Bitform Extract SDK to enhance PxMail's content inspection capabilities. Bitform Extract SDK is a software component that provides developers with precise, high-performance access to the full content - including text, metadata and content structure - of critical file formats.
PostX will leverage Bitform Extract SDK to analyze email attachments by extracting the text and comparing the result to lexicons and regular expressions that enforce compliance, policy and security rules. Depending on matching criteria, which can be customized by PostX customers, attachments will either be automatically encrypted or allowed to be sent in a standard, unencrypted mode.
"We're responding to demand for comprehensive content security, which requires us to provide the same level of accurate inspection of attachments as we do for the email message itself," says Cayce Ullman, President & CEO of PostX. "Bitform's technology delivers the performance and precision metrics that meet the requirements of our largest enterprise customers," added Ullman.
"We're excited to see a leader in the email encryption market take the important step of applying the same rules and actions against file attachments as they've applied to the base email message," says Joe Keslin, Bitform's CEO. "When an email message includes an attachment, it's typical for the attachment to contain the most sensitive information."
Bitform has developed a new architecture for content analysis and inspection that delivers in three key areas: precision, performance and reliability. Bitform Extract SDK provides direct access to the content and structure of complex file types, allowing OEM partners to perform sophisticated analysis that transcends generic text filtering. The technology provides multi-platform support with file throughput measured in milliseconds per document, and offers superior exception handling that protects against malformed attachments.
