Tiscali is First to Offer Customers Advanced System Recovery Solution From Phoenix Technologies Ltd.; Recover Pro Software Delivers New Value-Added Service to Over 5 Million Tiscali Customers
Business Wire, Dec 16, 2005
MILPITAS, Calif. -- Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ:PTEC), the industry's foremost developer of firmware for PCs and other digital devices, today announced a partnership with Tiscali, the second largest Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Europe. Tiscali will be the first ISP worldwide to offer its subscribers Phoenix Recover Pro(TM), a unique recovery solution that will allow customers to quickly restore their systems and increase productivity and enable Tiscali to reduce call center activity and the associated costs.
"As consumers become more and more reliant on the computer for photo editing, music downloads and Internet surfing, the risk of virus attacks and loss of valuable personal data increases. They need a backup and restore solution that is efficient, easy to use and works even when Windows does not," said Mario Mariani, Tiscali's CEO. "We were immediately convinced that Recover Pro is the best possible recovery solution in the market."
The award-winning Recover Pro is an efficient recovery solution that is instantly accessible, even if Windows is not available. In the highly competitive market for ISP services, providers are challenged with offering differentiated solutions that add value for customers and reduce operating expenses. For a small monthly charge, Tiscali will offer Recover Pro as a value-added service to its customers in Germany, The Netherlands, Italy and the U.K.
"Tiscali is the perfect example of a pioneering company that understands the importance of the digital convergence taking place in the consumer marketplace," said Kees Mulder, vice president, sales, Phoenix Technologies EMEA. "Our partnership with Tiscali to deliver advanced recovery technology as a value-added service to consumers is a clear sign of Tiscali's forward thinking and understanding of the value computer data represents to its customers."
About Recover Pro
Virus attacks, worms, malicious code and errors continue to barrage PCs and are often the reason for system crashes and failures. With Recover Pro, users can automatically back up their PC operating system, applications, user settings and data files and easily recover them in the event of an attack. There is no need for IT support or training or to connect to the Internet for recovery assistance. Because the backup and restore functions are built in to the PC's hard drive as a "pre-OS" application, additional CDs, DVDs or a separate USB device aren't necessary to get back to business. After an attack, users will be guided by an easy graphical user interface that requires just a few keystrokes to restore the PC to its pre-attack condition. In addition, Recover Pro gives users the flexibility to choose how they would like to set up the incremental and automatic backups. Restore points can be set monthly, weekly, daily or hourly.
