Evergreen Solar's Amendment No. 1 to Registration Statement Relating to the Resale of Convertible Subordinated Notes Declared Effective

MARLBORO, Mass. -- Evergreen Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq: ESLR), a manufacturer of solar power products with its proprietary, low-cost String Ribbon(TM) wafer technology, filed an Amendment No. 1 to Registration Statement on Form S-3/A on Friday, December 16, 2005, with the Securities and Exchange Commission relating to the resale by selling securityholders of its 4.375% Convertible Subordinated Notes due 2012 (the "Notes"), and the Common Stock issuable upon conversion of the Notes. The Company will not receive any proceeds from the resale of the Notes or the underlying Common Stock. On Tuesday, December 20, 2005, the Company's Amendment No. 1 to Registration Statement on Form S-3/A was declared effective by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
