Business Wire, Dec 27, 2005

SAN FRANCISCO -- IDG's InfoWorld, the leading integrated media brand for strategic technology decision-makers, today announced that it is providing InfoWorld Daily podcast listeners a sneak peak at the winners of its annual Technology of the Year awards. The awards will be pre-announced during a special segment within the podcasts on December 27, 28, and 29. This marks the first time that an InfoWorld award was first announced via podcast before publication on InfoWorld.com or in the weekly print edition.

InfoWorld's annual awards highlight the passing year's key IT trends and unveil InfoWorld's picks for the most innovative and effective products impacting IT in the coming year. The official announcement will appear on InfoWorld.com and in the weekly print edition on January 2. A total of 46 awards across 45 categories will be announced. The first of three Technology of the Year pre-announcements is available for immediate download at: http://akamai.infoworld.com/podcasts/IFW_Daily_12-27-05.mp3.> "Podcast listeners are looking for unique value," said Steve Fox, InfoWorld's editor in chief. "By naming our Technology of the Year award winners via podcast first, we are reflecting the immediacy, vibrancy, and potential of podcasting as a communication's medium."

Today, six networking awards were pre-announced. The December 28 podcast highlights sixteen awards encompassing client and server hardware, operating systems, virtualization software, and storage solutions. The December 29 podcast features twenty four awards covering application development, applications and middleware, databases, content and collaboration software, identity management, and security solutions.
