NetManage OnWeb for iSeries Accelerates Path to Web and SOA for iSeries Applications; New Product Provides iSeries Users Powerful Publishing Capabilities Delivered at Significant Cost Savings
Business Wire, Dec 5, 2005
CUPERTINO, Calif. -- NetManage, Inc. (NASDAQ:NETM), a software company that provides solutions for accessing, Web enabling and integrating enterprise information systems, today announced extended capabilities of NetManage's OnWeb(R) for the IBM iSeries product family. NetManage OnWeb enables iSeries users to efficiently and securely transform existing host applications into Web applications and integrate these systems into an SOA-based environment. Without the need for additional run-time servers, OnWeb for iSeries delivers significant cost savings for those companies Web-enabling 5250 and RPG applications.
"A core requirement in the emerging role of SOA is to securely expose corporate IT assets in a flexible and agile enterprise architecture," said Jason Bloomberg, senior analyst at ZapThink. "NetManage is providing cost-effective tools to easily migrate enterprise architecture to Web services in order to support corporate initiatives, including SOA planning, modeling and organization."
OnWeb for iSeries provides flexible and powerful HTML publishing options using minimal system resources. Unlike alternative solutions, OnWeb for iSeries does not require the use of a separate run-time server. OnWeb for iSeries is capable of combining information from multiple 5250 applications, databases or RPG applications and publishing the result directly in HTML or delivering it as a Web service, JavaBean, EJB or .NET Assembly.
"iSeries users who want to Web-enable their IT architecture achieve better performance at a lower cost by using OnWeb. NetManage's processor-based licensing is a better value for midsize companies and can deliver a faster return on investment," said Zvi Alon, chairman, president and CEO of NetManage. "NetManage's trusted OnWeb product simplifies the migration to browser-based computing for iSeries users to deploy essential SOA business initiatives quickly and easily."
Thousands of organizations have relied on OnWeb to extend the life of existing host systems and deliver unrivaled access to applications and information. The OnWeb family of products provides a full range of deployment options, including multiple thin client and zero-footprint client access and the ability to convert host-based business processes into reusable components, such as Web services, .NET Assemblies, JavaBeans, EJBs and portlets, which can be integrated with other enterprise applications or used as components in a new application. For organizations that are planning for future growth, OnWeb provides a complete application development environment that enables them to transform disparate internal systems and applications into interoperable, strategic and external facing business applications based on the services-oriented architecture.
