Business Wire, Dec 5, 2005
AUSTIN, Texas -- SoloMio Corp. (www.solomio.com), a leader in integrated subscriber call management solutions for mobile, fixed and broadband, today announced that former Alcatel CTO Niel Ransom joined the company's advisory board.
"I'm excited to work with SoloMio," said Dr. Niel Ransom. "SoloMio has created an innovative software platform enabling network operators to deploy dynamic menu-driven user interfaces to revenue-enhancing network-based call management applications. This approach is unique in the industry and is a powerful tool for creating services that customers enjoy using while at the same time achieving customer loyalty and reduced churn."
Earlier this year, Dr. Niel Ransom retired as chief technology officer of Alcatel where he was responsible for corporate and product strategy, corporate research, R&D investment, M&A strategy, and intellectual property. During his tenure, he successfully oversaw the acquisition of TiMetra, Spatial Communications, eDial, PacketVideo, Thirdspace, iMagicTV, Right Vision, Telera, Aravox, WaterCove, and Native Networks. Prior to joining Alcatel, Dr. Ransom directed an organization responsible for expanding BellSouth's offerings into PCS wireless, IP services, video entertainment, and advanced intelligent networks. Dr. Ransom began his career at Bell Labs where he was a member of, and eventually managed, an applied research organization that gave birth to a number of highly successful products in data and voice switching including the 5ESS system.
"SoloMio is delighted that Niel Ransom, a telecommunications industry visionary, has joined our advisory board," said Richard Schwartz, CEO of SoloMio. "Niel's deep understanding of fixed and mobile communication technologies combined with his industry experience with all types of service providers is a good match with our market strategy and global relationships."
Dr. Ransom has served as a member of the FCC's Technological Advisors Council and is co-author of book, Broadband Access Technologies, published by McGraw-Hill. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Teknovus and of Overture Networks.
