Capella University Launches Online Accounting Specializations; Accounting Specializations to Be Offered Through MBA Online and Undergraduate Business Programs Beginning January 2006
Business Wire, Dec 6, 2005
MINNEAPOLIS -- In response to new government regulations that have fueled tremendous growth in the accounting profession, Capella University will begin offering accounting specializations in its MBA online degree program and undergraduate business program with the start of the January 2006 quarter. According to the Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities for accountants and auditors will grow by 19.5 percent (1.26 million positions) by 2012.
The bachelor's online degree program prepares graduates for a profession in financial, managerial, or government accounting. Courses explore a wide variety of accounting-related topics, including budget analysis, financial and investment planning, and financial statement and internal control auditing.
The online MBA program, which can be completed in two years, builds the strategic perspective graduates need to effectively interact with executive management, and strengthens their ability to succeed in middle and senior management positions. The program expands and builds upon students' knowledge in areas such as budget planning and control, audit and evaluation of controls, and the nature and function of accounting in the decision-making process.
More than 100 major corporations, including Wells Fargo, Johnson & Johnson, and Boeing, recommend Capella University to their employees.
"Capella is offering our new accounting specializations at a time of tremendous growth in the accounting industry," said Paul Schroeder, senior vice president at Capella. "We offer those interested or already involved in the accounting profession practical skills that are immediately applicable to the workplace, as well as in-depth analysis of the principles of accounting."
Capella is now accepting enrollment applications for the new online accounting degree specializations. For more information, please call 1-888-CAPELLA or e-mail info@capella.edu.
Capella University does not guarantee that the accounting specializations will provide learners with the educational requirements necessary to be eligible to sit for the CPA examination or other professional licensures.
