Macromedia Breeze Live Achieves Full JITC Certification; Rapid Online Training and Communications Available for Use over DoD Networks
Business Wire, Feb 1, 2005
SAN FRANCISCO -- Macromedia (Nasdaq:MACR) today announced that it has achieved Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) certification for Macromedia(R) Breeze(TM) Live web conferencing software. Breeze Live Version 4.1 completed and passed testing for the Defense Collaboration Tool Suite (DCTS), which defines the list of approved collaboration tools and regulates the standards for collaboration products to interoperate over the Department of Defense (DoD) networks.
For government users, the extensive JITC examination validates developmental, interoperability, and operational conformance with stringent, multi-system collaboration standards. DCTS-certified Breeze Live provides DoD users with access to a fully integrated collaboration solution including audio, video, whiteboard, screen sharing, and chat capabilities, in a bandwidth-light form factor using just a standard web browser on virtually any platform. Breeze Live uses Macromedia Flash(R) Player, which is already installed on more than 98 percent of Internet-connected machines, including Department of Defense (DoD) computers. With the client software already installed, and minimal bandwidth requirements, Breeze Live is JITC approved and can be rapidly integrated with existing hardware and software solutions.
For enterprise users, JITC certification validates the virtually seamless integration of Breeze Live into existing Information Technology (IT) environments. Having met the rigid standards of DoD interoperability requirements, Breeze Live is now certified to perform flawlessly within the most demanding and complex IT systems.
"Interoperability is key in communications, especially for information sharing in any frontline environment," said Barry Leffew, vice president, government sales, Macromedia. "Breeze Live delivers a collaborative solution with global reach, combining existing content with live interactions for a rich, engaging user experience. With Breeze Live JITC certified for use across all DoD networks, defense and military organizations have the ability to utilize leading-edge technology with the knowledge that it is fully compliant with service requirements."
Macromedia Breeze is an integrated, rich communications platform with modules that support communication, training, and collaboration needs. Breeze Live is the component that delivers comprehensive web conferencing and collaboration that can be run securely behind firewalls. The capabilities of Flash Player, combined with the ease of use of Breeze Live software, provide the defense community with a collaboration system that has a global reach and enables instant user adoption.
JITC conducts hardware and software testing of Information Technology and National Security Systems (IT/NSS) for joint interoperability -- ensuring that systems within the defense and intelligence communities can exchange information effectively with one another. Focused on supporting the joint success of war fighters, JITC certification validates the ability of IT components to comply with DoD information management and sharing guidelines.
