Trio Gold Corp.: Drill Results from the Empire Mine Property in Idaho; Core Hole TDD04-1 Bottoms in 5ft '1.5m' Grading 13.5% Copper

Business Wire, Feb 1, 2005

CALGARY, Alberta -- Trio (TSX VENTURE:TGK) (PINK SHEETS:TROOF) has received head-grade assay results from Kappes Cassiday & Associates (KCA) of Reno, Nevada, for core hole TDD04-1, drilled in December 2004 in the AP pit area of the company's Empire Mine project located 3.3 miles west of Mackay, Idaho. Due to budgetary constraints the hole was terminated at 97 feet. The hole was cased and will be deepened to its planned 350 ft depth during the next round of drilling. This drill hole is located at the north end of the AP Pit area and is located approximately 100 feet from the nearest historical drill fence.

Hole TDD04-1 penetrated feldspar porphyry from the collar to 58 ft, and green skarn from 58 ft to 97 ft. Twenty feet of old mine workings were encountered in the skarn. These working were void space.

The hole assayed a weighed average of 4.23% copper (4.23% ICP check) over 19 ft of core, including 13.5% copper (13.4% ICP check) in the bottom 5 feet of the hole. KCA's analyses were by AAS checked by ICP at their Florin Lab in Reno. One percent copper is equivalent to 20 lbs per ton. Assays for gold, silver and zinc are pending.

KCA is preparing samples from the above section together with a 5,000 lb surface bulk sample, collected from the AP pit area in December 2004, for metallurgical testing.

The company drilled nine reverse circulation holes in the center of the AP pit in December 2004. These holes range in depth from sixty-five to three hundred and eighty feet. The holes are spaced 100' to 150ft apart and are located about 250ft south of the core hole. This drill program was designed to further define the depth and extent of oxide copper mineralization in the AP pit. Results are still pending and will be announced when available.

Independent consultant Jim Golden, P.Eng., of Sierra Mining and Engineering LLC. is completing a preliminary feasibility study of the Empire Mine. The Empire Mine produced 765,000 tons @ 3.64% copper, 0.048 opt gold, and 1.57 opt silver from underground workings in the period 1901 to 1942.

The drill program was implemented and supervised by Philip van Angeren P.Geol., director of Trio Gold Corp., and a "qualified person" under National Instrument 43-101 guidelines. This news release has been prepared by Mr. van Angeren.
