Deloitte US Chairman Sharon Allen Receives Distinguished Business Leader Award From The Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce; Allen's Award Cites Her Business Achievement and Leadership

LOS ANGELES -- Sharon L. Allen, chairman of the board of Deloitte & Touche USA LLP and the first woman chairman of the board from a leading professional services firm, will receive the Distinguished Business Leader Award from the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce tonight. The award will be presented to Allen at the Chamber of Commerce's 116th Annual Inaugural Dinner.
Prior to being elected Chairman, Allen was Managing Partner of the U.S. firm's Pacific Southwest practice where she had responsibility for offices in Los Angeles, Costa Mesa, San Diego, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Reno.

Allen's public service record includes philanthropic activities and board memberships that include the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Greater Los Angeles, Town Hall Los Angeles, YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, The Autry National Center, and Independent Colleges of Southern California. Allen also serves on the board of directors of the Malcolm Baldridge Foundation and the John F. Kennedy School of Government's Women's Leadership Board at Harvard University.

Allen was named one of the Top 50 "Women to Watch" by the Wall Street Journal in 2004, and one of the "Top 100 Most Influential" in accounting by Accounting Today magazine. She was also named an outstanding leader by the United Way of Greater Los Angeles for her philanthropic efforts.
Allen began her 30-plus-year career with Deloitte & Touche in Boise, Idaho, and rose to become the first woman chairman of its U.S. Board of Directors in May 2003. She leads the firm's governance process and oversees the firm's relationships with a number of major multinational clients. Allen also serves on the board of the global firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, for which she chairs the risk management committee and serves on the board's global governance committee.
