Department of Homeland Security Extends Submissions Deadline For Emerging Security Technology Forum
Business Wire, Feb 15, 2005
MENLO PARK, Calif. -- DHS Cyber Security R&D Center Invites Vendors To Submit Proposals On Security Technologies
SRI International, an independent nonprofit research and development organization, today announced the deadline to submit proposals has been extended for the DHS Cyber Security R&D Center Emerging Security Technology Forum. Security vendors interested in entering proposals on DDOS attack and worm defense security technologies can now make submissions until Monday, February 28, 2005.
On April 13-14, 2005, the DHS and its Cyber Security Research and Development Center (CSRDC) will host an emerging security technology forum at SRI International facilities in Arlington, Virginia. The security forum is an opportunity for small- to medium-sized information security vendors to present and demonstrate current and emerging information security technologies that defend against Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) and worm attacks to government technologists, technical managers, and others responsible for incorporating new technologies into government infrastructure. These technologies may have been developed via public or private sponsorship or funding.
Anti-DDOS and worm mitigation security tools must continue to evolve in response to increasingly frequent and sophisticated attacks on private and public networks. The intent of the security forum is to review, and subsequently support, emerging anti-DDOS and worm mitigation technology products that may defend against current and future cyber security threats.
Presentations should be targeted to an audience of senior and mid-level technology managers with program and purchasing authority for implementing large-scale defenses against DDOS and worm attacks. Following the presentations, vendors will individually meet and demonstrate their technologies to attending government personnel. It is expected that they will fully demonstrate and discuss proprietary aspects of the technologies in these private sessions.
Submissions should be received by February 28, 2005. Instructions for registration and submission can be found at http://www.hsarpacyber.com/forum. Invitations to selected security vendors will be extended the week of March 21, 2005. Approximately 15 vendors will be selected by the DHS to give a 20-minute presentations and demonstrations. Details and a presentation schedule will be announced after vendors have been selected.
Approximately one week before the Forum, selected vendors will have the opportunity to participate in a web seminar on how to best present their product(s) to a government audience and how to work with the government as a customer. Vendor participation will require a non-refundable attendance fee of $100 per company. The fee covers meals and organizational costs for up to three company attendees. Vendors are expected to pay for their travel, hotel and other related expenses. They are responsible for certifying in advance of the forum that their presentation or demonstration has been approved by any and all sponsoring or funding agencies.
