Bradmark Launches Surveillance IQ for Sybase IQ; The First Tool Available to Monitor and Manage Sybase IQ

Business Wire, Feb 17, 2005

HOUSTON -- Bradmark Technologies Inc. an established provider of enterprise monitoring and database administration tools, today announced that it has released Surveillance IQ for Sybase IQ, the first product ever developed to monitor and manage Sybase IQ. Surveillance IQ joins Bradmark's family of Surveillance for Sybase products, which include Surveillance DB for Sybase ASE, Surveillance RS for Sybase Replication Server and Surveillance OS for UNIX, Linux and Windows operating systems.

"We are very excited about this new addition to our Surveillance for Sybase suite," stated John Mitchell, vice president sales and marketing of Bradmark Technologies. "We recognized a real need in the marketplace for a comprehensive management tool for Sybase IQ and through extensive market research developed a product that alleviates the main concerns most Sybase IQ users face."

"We developed Surveillance IQ with the user in mind," commented Tom Callaghan, vice president technical services for Bradmark Technologies. "This tool allows the DBA to quickly visualize the overall performance of the system and take pre-emptive corrective action when necessary."

Working in collaboration with Surveillance OS, the Surveillance IQ module provides real-time statistics on memory allocation, buffer and storage utilization, and disk and network I/O. Connections are shown with their resource utilization and detailed drill-downs to transactions, SQL and lock information. The transaction view provides DBAs a list of all open transactions and their resources and the storage view shows a running analysis of IQ storage data.

External files such as the Catalog Store, Catalog Log, IQ Message File and the server log directory are analyzed for size and available space and the configuration view shows the IQ configuration settings. Standard alerts are provided for notification of all parameters that would take an IQ database offline or negatively affect its performance.

Surveillance real-time monitoring tools have been built from the ground up by one development team and the unique agent-based architecture is suited to any size implementation. The server agents occupy very small footprints, usually as low as 2% of the system resources and have minimal impact on network traffic. Users can utilize a standard set of rules or create customized rules and alerts for every conceivable condition and organizational structure.
