Razor & Tie Announces Licensing Agreement with Fisher-Price: Popular Kidz Bop Songs Play in New Star Station Toy; Agreement Marks the First Foray into the Toy Aisle by the #1 Music Brand for Kids
Business Wire, Feb 21, 2005
NEW YORK -- Razor & Tie Entertainment, one of the fastest-growing independent entertainment companies in the United States, announced today a licensing agreement with Fisher-Price(R), the number one infant and preschool toy company in the world and a subsidiary of Mattel, Inc. (NYSE:MAT), to utilize popular Kidz Bop(R) songs in the new Fisher-Price(R) Star Station(TM). This groundbreaking sing-along toy allows preschoolers to see and hear themselves perform on their very own TV sets. This agreement marks Razor & Tie's first foray into the toy aisle.
"We're excited that our first venture into the toy world is alongside Fisher-Price, the preeminent preschool toy maker," says Craig Balsam, co-founder and co-owner of Razor & Tie. "By extending Kidz Bop(R) into the world of toys and licensed goods, it reinforces Kidz Bop(R)'s positioning as a provider of outstanding music product by kids for kids(TM)." Cliff Chenfeld, Razor & Tie co-founder and co-owner, adds, "This agreement further shows the staying power of the Kidz Bop(R) brand and widens our visibility into new channels."
"We are glad to have this opportunity to work with a company like Razor & Tie that provides positive entertainment for children, peace of mind for parents and a great family experience with their Kidz Bop CDs," remarks Chuck Scothon, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Brand Development for Fisher-Price. "Having such well-known music titles as part of our Star Station toy really brings a level of familiarity to the product and enhances the overall experience."
The Fisher-Price Star Station puts the power of performance right into the palms of kids' hands. It lets kids be the star of the show - they can see and hear themselves on their very own TV sets as they sing and dance along with their favorite songs from Kidz Bop one of the most popular and recognized music products in the US for kids ages 3 to 11. The Kidz Bop music series features today's most popular songs - sung by kids for kids(TM) - and with the Star Station, kids become the star of the show.
Using plug and play technology, parents simply plug the base unit into their TV's A/V jacks, position the camera and then enjoy the fun as their child - and the whole family - puts on a live show, singing and dancing to the music. A wireless microphone puts no limits on what kids can do with this system. With the simple press of a button, kids can choose from five different rotating camera lenses that create awesome on-screen effects: Regular, Shining Star, Double Vision, Kaleidoscope and Color Kaleidoscope.
The Star Station base unit will be sold with a cartridge that includes four hit Kidz Bop songs like "Hey Ya" and "All Star." Eight additional cartridges, each with eight more Kidz Bop songs, will be available in July. The cartridges make it easy for kids to quickly and easily change the music and the theme of their show, but their performances can last a lifetime by simply connecting the Star Station to any VCR or DVD-R to record the fun. In addition, an audio-in jack allows the unit to be connected to any CD player so children can sing along with any of their favorite CDs.
Debuting in July, the Star Station from Fisher-Price will be sold for $59.99 and is recommended for children ages 3 and up. Additional Kidz Bop cartridges will be available in July for $9.99.
