Business Wire, Feb 28, 2005

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine -- Fairchild Semiconductor's (NYSE:FCS) chief strategy officer and executive vice president, Dr. Izak Bencuya, will discuss the technology trends and market forces that will drive the power semiconductor industry over the next decade. The plenary address will be given at this year's Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC) held March 7th-10th in Austin, Texas. Fairchild will also demonstrate its full suite of power design solutions for the AC/DC, DC/DC, motor and lighting markets in booth 205/304.

Fairchild's participation in the conference program and on the show floor will frame the key power design challenges now facing the industry, including reducing standby power to below 1 Watt, power factor correction, reducing component size and weight and increasing efficiency and thermal performance. Fairchild will present design solutions utilizing green Fairchild Power Switch (FPS(TM)), PFC controllers, optically-isolated error amplifiers, BGA MOSFETs and Smart Power Modules (SPM(TM)).

"Fairchild is the only semiconductor supplier in the industry to offer products in power analog and power discrete, as well as optoelectronics. With the broadest portfolio of power products covering the entire spectrum from 1 V to 1200 V and micro amps to over 600 amps, Fairchild has the unique capability to functionally integrate complementary building blocks into innovative new power solutions of remarkable flexibility, performance and value. APEC is a key venue to demonstrate Fairchild's unique Power Franchise(R) approach to solve the important system power optimization issues facing the industry," said Dr. Bencuya.
