Law Enforcement Officers Partner with Save Mart Supermarkets to Raise funds for Special Olympics Northern California

Who: Law Enforcement Officers, Save Mart Supermarkets, S-Mart Foods, Food Maxx Maximum Discount Supermarkets and Special Olympics Northern California. What: Law Enforcement Torch Run "Bucks for Badges" fundraising event, benefiting Special Olympics Northern California. Twelve grocery stores will have law enforcement officers acting as special "Courtesy Cops," bagging groceries and taking them to shoppers' cars in order to earn tips to support Special Olympics athletes in their local communities. These locations will also include radio remotes, fingerprinting and balloons for children, Special Olympics athletes selling T-shirts, and more. In addition consumers can purchase special Bucks for Badges icons for $1 at all participating Save Mart Supermarkets, Food Maxx Maximum Discount Supermarkets and S-Mart Foods, with proceeds benefiting Special Olympics Northern California. In addition to their donation, consumers will receive money saving coupons on Proctor and Gamble purchases. When: February 5, 2005 Where: Stores with special events are: Save Mart: Modesto on Oakdale Rd., San Jose on McKee Rd., Tracy on W. 11th St., Clovis on North Willow, Visalia on Goshen Ave. and Fresno on E. Champlain. Food Max stores are: Salinas on N. Main St., Fremont on Fremont Blvd., and Santa Rosa on Sebastopol Rd., Rohnert Park on Rohnert Park Expressway and San Leandro on Lewelling.
