HEKKO's Online Learning System Benefiting Kindergartners at Reynolds Elementary in Oceanside, CA
Business Wire, Feb 4, 2005
VISTA, Calif. -- HEKKO Corporation, a comprehensive online learning system provider for elementary schools and the home, has already started to benefit kindergartners at Oceanside's Reynolds Elementary School with its Online Learning System. Reynolds Elementary has implemented HEKKO's free program in its two kindergarten classes, which consists of 40 students. As a result, Reynolds' kindergarten students have another outlet to practice and excel within the class's curriculum--without affecting the school's budget.
According to Reynolds kindergarten teacher Jean Benson, HEKKO's learning system, which is based on California State Standards, provides her with another opportunity to teach students additional language of math and math skills so they will achieve the standards by the end of the year.
"The kids really enjoy it," says Benson, who's been teaching elementary school for 27 years. "Anything that helps me in the classroom to help my kids learn the skills they need to get to the next level, I will support. Overall, it makes for better prepared, more skilled kids."
Benson has already integrated the Online Learning System into her classroom by placing HEKKO's computer time amongst the student's daily rotating jobs. Each child has their own online HEKKO account, where they can logon and work on HEKKO each day.
"What I really like about it is that it automatically advances the skill level each time a child completes a task," she adds. "It challenges them at each level, allowing them to go higher and higher at their own pace--finally achieving their goals."
Benson admits that one of her hobbies is exploring new educational software programs to benefit her kindergartners. "Anything that is computer-oriented and can positively enhance the kids' learning experience, I think it adds real value," she explains. "And HEKKO is right in line with what I am teaching."
In addition to enhancing the learning experience, Benson adds that there is very little training to get the kids going in the program. "Every child has a different way of learning, whether it's through hearing, seeing, or doing," she explains. "HEKKO addresses all these aspects in a user-friendly environment for kids."
Currently, HEKKO is in Reynolds' kindergarten classes but has plans to expand to the rest of the elementary school.
