NexTone Completes Formal BroadSoft Validation; Combined Solution Offers the Industry's Most Comprehensive Internetworking Solution for the Delivery of Profitable VoIP Services
Business Wire, Feb 7, 2005
GAITHERSBURG, Md. -- NexTone's Multiprotocol Session Controller and BroadSoft BroadWorks Deliver Enhanced VoIP Services and Operational Simplicity
NexTone(TM) Communications, the market leader in scalable session management of real-time IP services such as voice over IP (VoIP), today announced that the company's Multiprotocol Session Controller (MSC) has received formal interoperability validation from BroadSoft(R), the leading provider of VoIP application software. NexTone's MSC provides carriers unparalleled H.323 or SIP interoperability and simplifies the interconnection between BroadSoft's BroadWorks VoIP application platform as well as IP PBX platforms from a variety of vendors.
The NexTone MSC passed BroadSoft's subscriber access and network trunk interoperability testing. This validation assures carrier or enterprise operators that the call admission control (CAC) facility of the NexTone MSC works in unison with the user mobility provided by BroadSoft's BroadWorks. Unlike other session border controller solutions that are not endpoint aware, NexTone's advanced signaling and media routing capabilities allow carriers to apply a single set of call admission control (CAC) and policy enforcement parameters regardless of whether the call is originating from a BroadSoft-registered user or another platform.
"Unique to NexTone is our ability to apply a consistent, yet adaptive, set of policies which govern security, call routing and bandwidth used by subscribers as they change location and calling device," said Dan Dearing, vice president of marketing at NexTone. "This capability, combined with the BroadSoft solution, simplifies network operations and management for our carrier customers and gives users the mobility that they desire."
New Global Telecom (NGT) is an excellent showcase for the joint solution. NGT's 6DegreesIP product suite of managed wholesale VoIP products offers other service providers a highly effective, turnkey solution to address residential and business end-user needs. The joint solution from NexTone and BroadSoft gives NGT maximum flexibility in creating differentiated turnkey services for its customers and provides enhanced call control for simplified operation and service scale.
Tim Bradley, NGT's senior vice-president of VoIP services said, "The NexTone MSC enables us to effectively expand our service footprint. The MSC supports BroadWorks-to-BroadWorks connectivity by helping us manage SIP registration for end devices, as well as security, routing and topology hiding functionality. This will be a great help as we continue to penetrate the service provider market with our 6DegreesIP product suite."
"BroadSoft and NexTone have been working together on several joint customer deployments. Our joint solution provides carriers with flexible, fully interoperable VoIP applications and services for their business and residential customers," said Scott Wharton, vice president of marketing for BroadSoft. "Both BroadSoft and NexTone are dedicated to meeting the growing demand for VoIP applications and services worldwide. The completion of this interoperability validation further reinforces our commitment to extend our joint solution to carriers and enterprise customers globally."
