DefenseWeb Helps Air Force Manage Services Provided to Deployed Troops and Families; Air Force Expands Contract for DefenseWeb's Online Family Services Management System

Business Wire, Feb 8, 2005

SAN DIEGO -- DefenseWeb Technologies, a premier custom software developer and systems integrator serving Defense Department (DoD) organizations, announced today that the Air Force Family Support Center (FSC) has expanded its development contract for the Family Integrated Results Statistical Tracking (FIRST) system.

The FIRST system, developed by DefenseWeb, provides FSC staff Air Force-wide a central location where they can record and track the delivery and effectiveness of services to Air Force service members and their families. Under the latest contract, DefenseWeb will add enhanced security features, new resources to help the Air Force deliver additional services and improved functionality based on input from the field.

DefenseWeb CEO Douglas W. Burke said, "The FIRST system has helped the Air Force deliver crucial services to Air Force service members and their families. With the continued development of FIRST, we will help the Air Force build upon the success of this program, strengthen its relationships with services members and their families, and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of these programs, which are so crucial to service members' quality of life, readiness and retention."

Among the new resources will be an emergency evacuation component. This will help the Air Force track services provided to Air Force service members and their families as they are re-assigned to different bases.

DefenseWeb coordinated with FSC personnel at all levels to design the FIRST application, using DefenseWeb's exclusive Xtendable(R) Server framework. The application fully integrates with FSC's other program-specific applications and collaboration modules on the Family Support Center Program's Web system (www.affsc.org).

The FIRST system currently includes the following features:

--Real-time data collection and reporting. Results are immediately available to FSC staff at the base, MAJCOM and Air Force levels.

--Anytime, anywhere access for FSC staff members. FSC staff can log into the FIRST system, enter customer and visit details, or access customer service history using any computer connected to the Web.

--Intuitive, easy-to-learn user interface. FSC staff members can quickly get up to speed on how to use on the FIRST system so they can get back to doing what they do best--helping Air Force families.

--Easy retrieval and presentation of FSC program data. The Air Force can quickly view important statistics including the types of family program services provided for each base, the number of customers served, and the outcome of FSC program staff interactions with Air Force family members.

--Flexibility to adjust to changes in family program services and priorities. The FIRST system is designed to accommodate the evolving needs of the Air Force's family services programs.

--Versatility to allow FSCs, bases and MAJCOMs to focus on the level of detail that reflects their needs. FSC staff can view detailed data on their own base's programs, while at MAJCOM level, users can gauge the success of the FSC programs Air Force-wide.
