Major U.S. Broadcast Network Selects GlowPoint to Provide Live Interviews from Michael Jackson Trial
Business Wire, Jan 13, 2005
HILLSIDE, N.J. -- IP-based Video Communications Network Provides Innovative Alternative to Satellite Transmission
Glowpoint, Inc.(NASDAQ: GLOW), the world's leading broadcast-quality IP-based video communications service provider, today announced that a major U.S. broadcast network has selected GlowPoint to provide remote video coverage of the Michael Jackson trial for its popular morning show. The national television network will install GlowPoint in two locations, one at its New York City studio and a second remote site near the Santa Maria, CA courthouse. Beginning in February 2005, on-air personalities will utilize the GlowPoint network to transmit live interviews, capturing real-time reactions to current developments in the high profile judicial proceedings.
As a cost effective, flexible and "always-on" alternative to traditional satellite-based broadcast trucks, GlowPoint will be available for unlimited network feeds throughout the duration of the trial. The support of the Michael Jackson trial for spontaneous, remote video in a broadcast environment illustrates another innovative use of GlowPoint's quality IP-based network. Previously, the GlowPoint IP-network was chosen to capture and broadcast remote team site interviews in both the 2003 and 2004 NFL(R) and NBA(R) drafts, and more recently provided 164 hours of uninterrupted real-time index feeds during the 2004 Democratic National Convention.
"Major broadcasters continue to utilize GlowPoint for the delivery of television quality video to increase the speed, flexibility and efficiency of their on-air content creation," said David Trachtenberg, president and CEO of GlowPoint.
