Business Wire, Jan 18, 2005

ASHBURN, Va. -- Telos(R) Corporation today announced that it has been awarded a three-year contract to provide Xacta IA Manager(TM) and information assurance consulting services to Washington Headquarters Services (WHS). Telos, a provider of innovative government information technology (IT) solutions, will provide WHS with Xacta IA Manager Enterprise Edition, the company's flagship IT security compliance and risk management offering, to streamline certification and accreditation (C&A) processes for WHS' applications and networks. Additionally, Telos will provide information assurance consulting services, supporting overall defense transformation efforts to streamline systems and improve security, as well as operational excellence and agility.

Established as a Department of Defense (DoD) Field Activity on October 1, 1977, WHS provides a wide range of administrative support and operational services for DoD and other federal agencies in the Pentagon, the National Capitol Region, and around the world. WHS' staff of 1,300, in ten Directorates, supports customers including Office of the Secretary of Defense, the White House, Congress, and a variety of defense agencies.

Because reliable and secure IT systems are essential to the integrity of DoD information management and decision-making, WHS relies on a continuous and continually updated assessment of its security posture. Xacta IA Manager provides WHS the ability to establish and enforce enterprise-wide security. It allows WHS to automate its C&A processes, including system evaluation and reporting requirements. The software suite enables the agency to deploy wizard-driven templates for C&A, allowing WHS to take advantage of Telos' proven risk and compliance assessment methodologies across an unlimited number of systems for a three year period of performance. By leveraging the Xacta IA Manager continuous assessment technology, WHS' systems will maintain high levels of IT security over time. To complement the Xacta IA Manager product, Telos will provide security consulting services, including operational security management, incident response, and malicious code analysis.

"WHS essentially serves as the administrative right arm of the DoD and the Secretary of Defense, so the security of their systems is non-negotiable," said Richard Tracy, chief security officer of Xacta Corporation, a Telos subsidiary. "We are pleased to leverage our DoD-specific knowledge, gained working with a variety of defense organizations, to manage and ensure the integrity of WHS' systems."

WHS joins a growing number of defense agencies to leverage the IT security expertise of Telos. Today Xacta IA Manager is installed at over two dozen federal and DoD agencies, including branches of the military.
