Reuters Launches New Partner Program to Strengthen Messaging Service Compliance Capabilities
Business Wire, Jan 18, 2005
NEW YORK -- Reuters (LSE: RTR, Nasdaq: RTRSY), the global information company, today announced the launch of its Compliance Partner Program designed to enhance compliance capabilities of its Reuters Messaging service by giving customers the tools needed to meet stringent new regulatory requirements.
By establishing this program, Reuters is partnering with the industry's leading instant messaging compliance vendors to give Reuters Messaging customers the tools needed to meet regulatory electronic communications requirements. The first vendors to join the Compliance Partner Program are Akonix, Facetime and IMlogic, three of the industry's leading instant messaging compliance vendors.
Some companies in the financial services industry are required by regulatory bodies such as the SEC and NASD to log, monitor and capture instant messaging. Other companies wish to manage and control their instant messaging communication, to meet internal corporate policies. The Compliance Partner Program allows organizations using the Reuters Messaging service and the solutions offered via this Compliance Partner Program to monitor, log and capture Reuters Messaging traffic.
The Compliance Partner Program complements Reuters existing logging product. Reuters Messaging customers will also benefit from such a program by being confident that their messaging traffic is being properly monitored and their compliance exposure minimized. It will give them reassurance that the relationship between Reuters and its partners is fully authorized.
The Compliance Partner Program compliments Reuters existing logging product. As a next step Reuters plans to further extend its offering to include a compliance product, and make it available on a hosted basis.
David Gurle, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Collaboration Services of Reuters said: "The power of Reuters lies in its ability to provide fast, secure, compliant and reliable communications integrated into its financial systems. Our goal has been to expand the reach of our end users by enhancing our offering. The Compliance Partner Program provides our customers the flexibility to work with third party vendors to monitor and log their Reuters Messaging traffic in a trustworthy environment. We are delighted to partner with the industry's leaders, who bring with them a wealth of experience in the compliance space".
Octavio Marenzi, CEO of Celent said: "In an increasingly stringent regulatory environment, financial institutions must quickly find ways to log & audit instant messages to avoid legal sanctions. Reuters Messaging remains one of the few services that helps Enterprise customers meet these needs".
