The Planet Enhances Security for Hosting Customers by Installing the World's Most Powerful Intrusion Prevention System
Business Wire, Jan 18, 2005
DALLAS -- The Planet announced today that it has deployed TippingPoint's UnityOne Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), the only product to win the coveted NSS Gold Award in the IPS space. This upgrade is the latest development in the company's large-scale effort to bolster its security suite.
"The Planet is significantly enhancing security for customers of its hosting services by installing TippingPoint's UnityOne IPS," said TippingPoint's President James Hamilton. "By deploying UnityOne systems throughout their network, they have exhibited the vision and foresight to proactively protect their customers from attacks and threats."
The system combines ultra-high performance with accurate, reliable protection from exploits and malware to deliver the most powerful network protection available.
UnityOne is a robust, high-performance IPS that can be scaled to keep pace with The Planet's significant growth. The system filters a very high volume of traffic with virtually no network delay while performing thousands of simultaneous checks on each packet flow. The IPS provides total packet inspection of incoming traffic and removes malicious and unwanted traffic from the network.
"Tipping Point's Digital Vaccine service delivers new filters on a weekly, and sometimes daily, basis to maintain protection for the latest vulnerabilities, exploits, viruses, Denial of Service attacks, and rogue applications," said John Bradberry, Director of Information Security at The Planet. "We are pleased to now offer another incredible value-added service to our customers at no additional charge - a high-end security system that would be expensive to purchase on their own."
According to Mr. Bradberry, while The Planet continues to enhance its security practices through the creation of strategic partnerships with a select group of vendors, those security improvements include even more than just state-of-the-art security tools and other recent enhancements.
"In addition to the deployment of the UnityOne IPS, The Planet is also developing a Security Operations Center (SOC)," he said. "Our expert team of SOC analysts, backed by our NOC and security engineers, will proactively monitor and manage our security systems to quickly identify and resolve security incidents."
