Luxembourg Art Exhibition to Visit Hotel Nikko in San Francisco Beginning January 26

Business Wire, Jan 21, 2005

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Luxembourg Consulate General in San Francisco and the American Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg today announced that "Business - Abstract" a modern art exhibition, will be held at the Baxter Chang Patri Fine Art Gallery located in the Hotel Nikko from January 26 through 30. The exhibit has been organized in recognition of the Presidency of the European Union, which Luxembourg holds from Jan. 1 until June 30, and will open in the presence of Mr. Jeannot Krecke, minister of the economy and foreign trade, and Mr. Jean-Louis Schiltz, minister of communications and media.

The exhibit has appeared in New York City and Washington D.C. prior to arriving in San Francisco. It originated on June 8, 2002, when the American Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg (AMCHAM) celebrated its Fifth Anniversary by combining the worlds of business and art.

Eight AMCHAM member companies -- Deloitte, Ernst & Young, IKANO Funds, KPMG, SEB Private Bank, State Street Bank, Streff Removal & Storage S.a.r.l. and PricewaterhouseCoopers -- helped sponsor the event. Local Luxembourg artists including Franz Dasbourg, Erin McNichol, Diane Jodes, Robert Hall, Isabelle Lutz, Jean-Luc Koenig, Thed Johanns, Sylvie Karier and Terry O'Brien were commissioned, and each was matched with one of the companies to study and draw inspiration from the essence of each company, creating a visual representation in sculpture, paint or another artistic medium. Each artist was free to interpret the project as desired - with excellent outcomes.

The pairing of the international business community with local Luxembourg artists is a tangible example of how the AMCHAM and its membership help support the strong and enduring bilateral relationship between the United States and Luxembourg.

Now, AMCHAM, the Luxembourg Embassy in Washington, D.C., and the Consulates General in New York and in San Francisco, have been able to organize this exhibition with the help of the sponsors, including South San Francisco-based Cargolux.
